February 2025

Welcome to Feb!!!

Welcome to the month of Love!!!

As I was thinking of this month, I came across this song that is PERFECT for reflecting how our little 1660 community. This song by Lady Gaga is the perfect song that reflects community. Check it out here.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Its a song I heard as a kid growing up, and a sentiment I have thought of often when I get home after a long day or a hard week!!

In the spirit of Valentines, why should only couples have fun?!

We are hosting a Neighborly Palentine's Event instead. We are all 'Pals', so lets spread some of that neighborly love. Details lower below.

But first.....

Employee Spotlight!

Our Feb Spotlight is Barbara!!

You know Barbara!!! The Queen needs no introduction!

Fun Facts!

She has been here for 15 years. She is a true Chicagoan, born and raised!! She LOVES Soul Food!

She loves God and her family! When not working she loves going to church on Sundays, cooking, and spending time with family.

Her favorite music is R&B and Church music.

She is a people person! She loves all the children in the building and when residents stop at the desk and talk with her!

A little Feb Tips!

Lets face it, Feb can be a tough month. Its cold in the mid-west. Days are short and dark.

I wanted to share a little life tip I learned...

How to Boost Your Baseline Dopamine

Dopamine isn't about pleasure. It's about pursuit. Most people chase quick dopamine spikes through junk food and endless scrolling, which actually lowers baseline motivation. The goal is building consistent elevated dopamine that supports long-term drive.

Science-backed dopamine tools:

  • Tyrosine-rich foods (eggs, fish, nuts) provide raw materials for dopamine production
  • Morning sunlight triggers dopamine release in alertness circuits
  • Cold exposure and controlled breathwork activate motivation pathways
  • Deep work blocks (60-90 minutes) maintain steady dopamine flow

Consistent sleep stabilizes dopamine receptors. Reducing overstimulation protects against depletion. When you attach meaning to effort, your brain releases small dopamine pulses that reinforce determination, building inner momentum instead of relying on external rewards.

We are turning Valentines into Palentine's!
